The latter ran on the outside for the entire trip and covered much more ground than the winner, moved up menacingly at the furlong post, but tired in the final drive. Maxim Gun came through next to the rail after entering the homestretch and, hanging on gamely under punishment, outstayed Great Jubilee. Ilegl-nald fenced poorly for the first turn of the field, but came fast when he got settled and ran into the lead. L but tired in the last quarter. Profit jumped very green, refused at the fifth jump, but finally scrambled w over it and was then dismounted and led back to the paddock very lame. Cunning, in closest pursuit all the way, was closing up on the winner at the end. Rossfenton, shuttled back at the start, closed a big gap steadily into a gaining third. Court Lady finished very fast after having closed a big gap. Dan de Noyles showed speed, but quit in the last quarter. Tasley ran a bad race and probably disliked the going. The latter showed a line turn of early speed, but tired in the last sixteenth. Croydon was coming fast on the inside in the stretch, where lie met with interference. The others were badly outpaced.
