ST SAVIN A FINE INDIVIDUAL St Simon Stallion Imported by I H Wheatcroft Im ¬ presses Kentucky Breeders Who Have Seen Him Lexington Ky January 8 The hreeders who have visited Oakxvood Farm to inspect St Savin the magnificent thoroughbred stallion recently arrived from England to head the St James Stud of Irving H Wheatcroft are greatly impressed with the six yearold sou of St Simon and Aboyne a daughter if Hampton and Morven by Barcaldluc It is the opinion of such judges of the thoroughbred horse as Colonel Milton Young Major Foxball A Daingertteld Dr J I Neet Dr M M Leach Dr Robert Bryan Charles Hill and others that St Savin is not alone the best son of St Simon that has ever come to North America but one of the grandest individuals that has ever crossed the Atlantic to these shores not forgetting that Ormonde St Blaise Adam Hock Sand and other highpriced ones were among his predecessors predecessorsSt St Savin is a horse of tremendous proportions and he is possessed of high mettle Beside him Cesarion Yorkshire Lad and Go Between the other stallions at Oakwood Farm look like pigmies It is freely predicted by those who have seen him that St Savin will eliminate the prejudice that through the non success of their get exists against most of the sons of St Simon that have been brouglit to this country and will bear out the contention of those who have maintained that lack of individual quality more than anything else has been responsible for the re ¬ peated failures failuresThe The sons of St Simon in addition to St Savin now iu North America are Bassetlaw Graenan Hawkswick Masetto Miiner Planudes St Dory St Eras St Leonards II St Simonian II Sand ringham Singleton and Tithomis Plumules the sire of Waldo imported by Edward Corrigan in 1002 and now owned by John E Madden has proven best of these Singleton for which August Belmont paid a fancy price as a weanling is at the Nursery Stud and is to have this year because of the showing of a twoyearold now iu the Belmont string a better chance in the stud than has heretofore been accorded him Superintendent Kane has all along liecn strong for Singleton and he believes Implicitly in his future as a sire sireBefore Before leaving here last Tuesday for an extended trip to the west and south Mr Wheatcroft made the announcement that St Savins book is virtually full for this year and he gave the names of
