EASTERN SEASON MAY OPEN EARLY New York January 20 Local turfmen have re ¬ ceived a tip apparently based upon excellent au ¬ thority to the effect that the local racing season will open at Aqueduct on April 15 regardless of the attitude of the Ilmlico management The per ¬ sons who have received this information say that the Jockey Club stewards are busy with the metro ¬ politan racing schedule just noy and that as Pimlico did not concern New Yorkers it would not cut any figure in the arrangement of dates datesThe The idea that Pimlico a secondclass track down In Maryland is of so much importance that two metropolitan tracks Aqueduct and Jamaica will not conduct spring meetings if there is a contliot of dates is absurd said a well osted racing man yesterday Pimlico isnt New York and you can rest assured that the Jockey Club stewards do not care much when the Maryland track opens There will be plenty of horses to run at Aqueduct and lamaica beginning April 15 anil the metropolitan public hungry for the sport will make these meet ¬ ings pay with their patronage The fact that the New York tracks can offer more tha i 150 racing days to owners and trainers is worth emembering when Pimlico does not afford more tha i thirty days or so The horsemen are with the Jockey Club ami to a man they are anxious to begin r clng here on April 15 The Aqueduct and Jamaic i tracks aro ready to operate on tin old lines or in accordance with the plans mapped out by the Jockey Club stewards
