LEXINGTON WANTS LATEB DATES THIS YEAB Lexington Ky January 22 President Camden Secretary Wilson and a committee of the directors of the Kentucky Association will meet here next Wednesday to decide upon dates for the spring meeting and to make application for the same to the State Racing Commission It Is said that the majority of the directors favor the dates April 30 to May and that they will probably be applied for This would bring the opening on Saturday and the closing on Monday making a total of eight days There has been no discussion witli the officials of the Louisville track as to their pleasure in the matter of dates but since Ciuircliill Downs for a number of years has opened during the flrst week iu May it is likely that the New Louisville Jockey Club will Interpose some objection They did so last year when Lexington proposed to o cn in May and Lex ¬ ington gave way It seems to be the feeing here that Louisville should this time let Lexington have the benefit of a later opening than in previous years Secretary AVilson makes the announcement that sixtyeight twoyearolds remain eligible to the Breeders Futurity which Is to be the feature of the opening day of the spring meeting and that twenty eight horses ren allied In the Camden Handicap after the second payi lent on January 1 It is estimated that the value f the Futurity this year will be ap ¬ proximately 4 H10 and that the same race a year hence for whicl there art now 170 yearlings eligible will be worth cl ise to S0M The Camdeu Handicap will be worth something like 2500
