TARDINESS IN CLAIMING NAMES New York January 25 Though the time expires for the naming of twoyearolds March 1 the claim ¬ ing of names has not begun to be what it should lie at this late date Horsemen are gulltv of pro ¬ crastination in many matters but in the question ot selecting a name for a colt or a tilly it is important that claims be made for the reason that in many instances a name chosen has already been claimed and anotherAnother it makes necessary the choice of another Another preliminary to tlie racing season is that stables must register their racing colors on or before March 1 Though there are several hundred colors to be registered each year there have been les than a dozen named for 1910 In the matter oC licenses to train and for the jockeys the time is not as short but like the other imperative duties of the horsemen each season they are being delaved unnecessarily this year
