MORE EASTERN STAKES ANNOUNCED Even Dozen to Be Decided at Aqueduct Spring Meet ins Saratoga to Have Imposing1 Array Xew York February 25 Stakes have been an ¬ nounced for tlie spring meeting of the Queens County Jockey Club at Aijucduct It is tlie meeting that opens the Xew York season April 15 and the stakes made public today will close March 15 Tlie list takes in an even dozen fixtures with few exceptions renewals of those offered at the spring meeting of 1XS There was no meeting at Aqueduct last year One of the notable elianges is that no steeplechase stakes are offered and it suggests that the Jinens County Jockey Club will not have crosscountry races at its first meeting They were eliminated from the fall meeting last year and this season the meeting of tlie Tilaryland Jockey Club at Pimlieo where steeplechases form ait important part of each days program will tie such a dangerous competitor for the jumpers that probably the field will not be used Of the dozen stakes just half of the uuinlier are for horses three years old and over Two are for fhreeycarolds and the remaining four are for twoyearolds twoyearoldsTho Tho Carler Handicap the best of the races for the older horses is renewed but instead of being a 10OCO affair it is a seveneighths dash with a guaranteed value of 25CO The other races for threeyearolds and over are tho Queens County Han ¬ dicap 1500 guaranteed one mile Freeport Handi ¬ cap 17 00 guaranteed seven furlongs 1econic Han ¬ dicap 1500 guaranteed six furlongs Itockaway Selling Stakes 1000 guaranteed six furlongs and the Flushing Selling Stakes 1000 guaranteed one mile mileFor For the threeyearolds the offerings are the Ar verne 1500 guaranteed six furlongs and the Union Selling Stakes 1000 guaranteed seven furlongs furlongsThe The twoyearold stakes are the Canarsie 1500 guaranteed seven furlongs Rose 1500 guaranteed for fillies half mile Ozone Selling Stakes 1000 guaranteed half mile and AVooduaven Selling Stakes 1000 guaranteed four and onehalf furlongs The steeplechases offered in 100S that have been eliminated this year are the iBayside tlie Winfield and the Glendale The Sterling a weightforage race at a mile is another that is not renewed but in its place there has been added tlie Pccoulc Handi ¬ cap a race that was not run at the last spring meet ¬ ing of the club With these exceptions the stakes are tlie same as formerly though values have been somewhat expectedThe reduced as was expected The weights for tiio Carter Handicap nre to Jje announced April 1 whUt fur Hioothet handicaps they will be published three days before the run ¬ ning of each race raceSecretary Secretary W C Edwards has not yet announced the stakes of the Metropolitan Jockey Club whose meeting fellows Aqueduct but a tentative list has been prepared preparedTuesday Tuesday the stakes of the Empire City Racing As ¬ sociation will close and next week the slakes that will be offered by the Saratoga Association in August will be made public The Saratoga Association has a notable list and for the twentyone days of racing provision has been made for no fewer tlian thirty two stakes on the flat and four steeplechases These stakes that is the twentyeight that have not al ¬ ready closed will close March 28 and they comprise one of the most notable offerings since the prosperous days of racing The four stakes that have already closed are the Spinaway Grand Union Hotel Hope ¬ ful and the United States Hotel Stakes
