STILL BREAKING RECORDS HORSES RACING AT PIMLICO CONTINUE TO SEDUCE TRACK HARKS Superstition Reduces LongStanding Record for Mile and ThreeQuarters and Question Mark Cuts Time for Mile and ThreeSixteeaths Baltimore Md October 26 The Maryland Jockey Club provided a splendid program for Piuilico patrons this afternoon but the horsemen robbed the racing of much of its interest by numerous withdrawals In a majority of the races A handicap for twoyeaj olds at six furlongs the Linstead Steeplechase and the Pimlico Selling Stakes at a mile and thrav quarters were the features of the sevenrace card It was the first mile and threequarters race turned up in Superstition which led his field froi start to finish and won under restraint in new track record time Superstition was ridden by jockey Shilling and was backed into oddson favoritism Sam Hildreth was the heaviest winner over tne horsors victory Mr Hildretu lost heavily to Wrap and Restigouche both of which were ridden by ShiH ing but wagered enough on Superstition to more than even up his losses lossesThe The juvenile race went to Martin W Littleton which led his field all the way The Carman colors were seen In front for the first time In two days when Question Mark won the sixth race The latter made a new track record for the mile and three sixteenths his time being 1593 a reduction of three fifths of a second rom the previous mark of 2OOJ made by Superstition earlier in the meeting Besom furnished a form somersault when he beit a band of fast sprinters in the second race He snowed dazzling speed but at the end was forced to stand a hard drive to stall off Restigouche The latter began slowly but gained steadily arid finished stoutly i Idle Michael after many disappointments finally graduated from the maiden elaa bju rbminif tlte closing dash after a strenuous drive in which l v got up to beat the favorite Paton a head in the I final strides Blackford which was run up and bought by Bici ard E Watkitis yesterday will bet a starter lu the Bowie Stakes on Monday next If all goes wU Blackford was claimed from Mr Wafklns by Ril Parr afewdays ago The only reason I bought him back said Mr Watkins was because I think that he will win the Bowie He is in nicely and the long route will just suit Dim E F Cooney owner of Guy Fisher added the twoyearold Gold Cap to his string this morning He will be shipped from here to Jamestown and then to Jacksonville JacksonvilleJoseph Joseph McLennan arrived from Chicago this morn ¬ ing and will remain nntil Saturday to look after entries for the stakes to be run at the Jacksonville course this winter He will be at Latonia on Mon ¬ day next the date set for the closing of the stakes Mr McLennan reports that the horsemen have re ¬ sponded in a liberal manner and that from present indications the various events will fill even better than they did last season seasonJohn John W Panglu has arranged to ship the Dnnlou string FridaySam to Norfolk on Friday Sam Ball winner of the Linstead Steeplechase this afternoon ran In the colors of Henry A Iligglnsoh who purchased the colt this morning of Henry Har ¬ rison risonCountless Countless one of the best threeyearolds of the season will be started in the Bowie Handicap to be run on the last day of the Pimlico meeting John G Greener wired Judge Bryan today that he would ship the horse from Latonia Friday and that he wiH arrive here Saturday morning Countless will carry 120 pounds in the Bowie One of his best perform ¬ ances this year was his defeat of Olambala in the Saratoga Cup one mile and threequarters S C Hildreth expects to ship his stable to Latonia tomorrow Jockey Shilling will go along todo the riding for the stable in the west
