PEN-AXO was outrun for the lirst half, but finished with a rush through the last sixteenth and won going away. WINKLER took the lead when entering the stretch, but tired in the final hundred yards. DEF3T, off slowlv. came fast from the rear and finished gamely. RAVELSf OX showed the most earlv speed, but stumbled hi the stretch, nearly falling. RIO PECOS went into the lead quickly and set the pace all the way, was in the middle of the track at the sixteenth post, but gradually bored over to the rail and impeded GOOD SHIP in the last seventy yards, for which a foul was claimed and allowed. GOOD SHIP ran well and was wearing. RIO PECOS down fast at the finish. THE FAD ran close up from the start, but tired in the final eighth. FRANK RUI1STALLER is a wonderful mud runner and it was only an exercise gallop for him, he winning pulled up. STEXDAL was badly outpaced for the first half, but came gamely in the last eighth into a good second. WABANAN. unable to keep up in the early running, also closed a gap and finished well. MIAMI, after being saved behind the leaders, forged to the front on the turn for homo and, taking a long lead in the stretch, won in a canter. JACK OLANTBRN appeared hopelessly outpaced for the first three-quarters, but finished fast and quickly passed DELENA in the last eighth. DELENA ran well and made a game effort in the stretch, but unavailiugly. BEX GREENLEAF ran well for three-quarters. SAM BARBER propped as the bar-riiT rose, then went after the others and ran a good race, but had no chance from the start. MONTAUK DON failed to stay the route. KOGO ran poorly.
