JUAREZ TO CLOSE MARCH 24 MANAGER WINN DECIDES AGAINST EXTENSION OF MEXICAN MEETING. Meeting Will Run Two Days Longer Than Originally Scheduled — Flying Footsteps and Thistle Belle Beat Closer in Handicap. El Paso, Tex., March 12. — A good-sized crowd crossed the border lodaj to witness the deehaoa of just an ordinary card at Juan/. The principal race w.i- won handily by Flying Foot-teps. She was a keen contender throughout. Closer and Upright, which ruled joint favorites in the betting, met wilh several mishaps. Jockey Hill tried to squeeze Dp-right through a small opening and was sharply cut off in doing so. Upright in turn impeded Ctoner. Thistle Belle and Flying Footsteps had clean sailing out in the lead and Flying Foot-dps easily beat Thistle Belle to the finish. Four well-backed favorites won their respective, races, but it was alxuit an even break on tile day between layers and public. Jockey Buxton, while riding in the second race, was hit in the eye by a ehxl of dirt and was obliged to cancel his engagements for tie n malnder of tie-day. M. .1. Winn announced today that there will pi si-tively be no extension of the meeting. Racing will continue for 1112 days, which is tWO days more than originally scheduled. This will bring the best meeting ever held here to a clo-e on Sunday. March 24. .Mrs. Margaret Winn, wile of John Winn, assistant chief of detectives at the Jockey Club Juarez track. and a cousin of M. J. Winn, died here last night of peronitis.
