SOME ITEMS FROM MONTREAL Montreal Que May 11 Five thoroughbred mares are due here from Ontario to he mated with Oiseau They are Beckon by Plaudit Semaphore Tender and True by Sir Dixon Purity Lady Rosalie by Handspring Lady Slavey JUarcelles by Morello Mercedes Lucy Jumps by Lucifer II Jumps by Halma There are some good mares in this lot Beckon won the WaldorfAstoria Stakes and John E Madden sold her as a twoyearold for 10000 Tender and True is a sister to J C Core she cost 3500 as a yearling Lady Rosalie cost 2000 as a yearling and Mercedes cost 1500 as a yearling at the Haggin sale The produce of these mares will be eligible for the Kings Plate at Woodbine for they are going back to Ontario in the fall fallD D Raymond proprietor of the Queens Hotel will send his filly Song Bird1 to the Woodbine meeting to run in the Coronation Stakes She was foaled here in February 1010 and is by Sea Horse II a stallion which the Canadian Bureau of Breed ¬ ing had in Quebec for three seasons and Is coming back hero next year Her dam Is Canta a mare which Gwyu Tompkins gave to the bureau She will start in the Nursery Stakes here in the fall and In the Kings Plate next year Her mother was a good producer and her sire a crackerjack Nat Ray timed him a mile and a quarter in 203 over the Saratoga track in preparation for a steeple ¬ chase He won the Auckland Cup in New Zealand and JIoongaC is by Nelson JIoonga C L Hervcy Is thinking of sending his twoyear old Decorous to Woodbine She is a likely two yearold filly out of Decade the dam of Chief Kee Decade was imported by the bureau from Kentuckv This twoyearold is by Maxio Decade now has a yearling filly by the bureau stallion Rosomount and Mr Hervey refused 1200 for her the other day Decade will foal soon to Earl lingers a son of WalkerSir Sain donated to the bureau by William Walker Sir Uodolphe Forget has a twoyearold filly Bac ¬ chante and she may also be sent to Woodbine She is by Sea Horse II and stands one Inch higher than Song Birdr her dam Is Valourous a good pro ¬ ducer Valourous has a fine yearling colt by Sea Horse II and a filly a few weeks old by the bureau stallion Blue Book by Hanover HanoverD D Raymond and Ambrose OBrien the latter a son of M J OBrien of Renfrew will liave their colors up at Woodbine for the first time They have an English threeyearold called Lord Ladas He was brought out here by Captain Mead and is by Primrose Lad by I idas winner of the Derby They also have Malamont by Flying Fox Mademoi sellu de Longchamps Gwyn Tompkins has these two colts in training at Baltimore and they will both bo at Woodbine The Flying Fox colt may not do much as a twoyearold because he is back ¬ ward wardSeven Seven stallions of the breeding bureau were shown at the Slontreal Horse Show yesterday They in ¬ cluded Oiseau Light Wool Frank Navin Reidnioore Beau Gallant Valjean and Fort Hunter HunterTo To give an idea of the kind of stallions Canada has beert getting for nothing the purchase prices of some of these are appended appendedOiseau Oiseau 27500 paid by James B Brady New York YorkBeau Beau Gallant 30000 paid by Richard Croker CrokerLight Light Wool 5000 paid by R L Thomas ThomasFrank Frank Navin 5500 paid by Frank J Nolan Albany N Y to James R Keene KeeneFort Fort Hunter 5500 paid by N Dymenr DymenrAll All these horses were received by donation and every one of them is standing at a 10 service fee in the Province of Quebec QuebecSir Sir Thomas Shaughnessys Silk Hose has a CinB bay filly two weeks old by Mastcnnan
