BRITISH COLUMBIA RACING PROGRAM Vancouver B C May 29 The racing season in British Columbia will open here at Minoru Park on June 29 under the auspices of thc British Columbia Thoroughbred Association Racing will be continued until the week of August 1217 during which the Vancouver Exhibition Association will hold its an ¬ nual fair and exhibition with races as a feature Racing will be resumed at Minorn Park August 19 and will continue until September 7 providing for fiftylive racing days at the local track with the pos ¬ sibility of further racing taking place at Victoria under the auspices of the Victoria Country Club ClubMinoru Minoru Park is situated on Lulu Island eleven miles from the center of the city It was construct ¬ ed and first raced over in 1909 It is a regulation mile course seventyfive feet in width with wcll bankcd turns The soil is absolutely free from stones and of a resilient nature Fifteen horses are allowed to start in a race There are 531 stalls within the enclosure enclosureThe The racing association will provide twelve guar ¬ anteed stakes ranging in value from 500 to 1000 including a Derby The daily distribution of money will he not less than 2000 In 1909 the purses totalled 51210 daily and last year the daily aver ¬ age was 1800 A special feature will be made of hurdle and steeplechase races The parimutuul sys ¬ tem of betling will be employed
