PEAK SEEKS REINSTATEMENT Carman Jockey to Make Formal Application to Lalonia Jockey Club Gossip from Louisville Louisville Ky August 21 Jockey C Peak who rode Free Lance when that great colt won the Latunia Derby last spring arrived today at Churchill Downs from Hot Springs Peak was susi ended in ¬ definitely by Judge Charles F Price at Latonia during the closing days of I he spring meeting there He was accused of rough riding He has tiled an application with the Latonia Jockey Club for the lifting of tin suspension Peak is still under en ¬ gagement to K F Carman tntil lie is restored to good standing he will devote himself to keeping in riding form by exercising the Carman horses horsesJohn John Cranor arrived today at Churchill Downs with three horses He came from Pensacola His racers are fouryearolds as follows T II Mc liride by Job Heels Joshua C by Handspring and S V Hough by Faverdale the last two named being maidens T II McBridc won three races as a twoyearold at Pensacola PensacolaWayne Wayne O Joplin has shipped to Havre de Qrace from Hamilton the racing string he has been cam ¬ paigning in Canada It consists of seven horses in ¬ cluding Swarfs Hill ranite Dorlon and Floral Day Mr Joplin will leave tomorrow for the Mary ¬ land track His jockey T Koerner is already there It is the intention of Mr Joplin to race only during the first two weeks of the Havre de Grace meeting Then he will ship his entire band to Douglas Park in time to start Granite in the 1000 Inaugural Handicap which is to be decided mi Septeiulier K K T McMillan came from Latonla today to Doug ¬ las Park with two horses one lieiiig Wishing King which has the unique distinction of having won a race at the longest odds on record The daughter of Dick Welles is looking well wellHenderson Henderson Hogan have wired to George M Oilom that they have shipped to him from Butte Mont the horses Cockspnr and Brave The latter has broken down and will be turned out for the winter on a farm near Louisville Mr Odom will train Cockspur for this firm and will race him thiji fall in Kentucky Trainer S Miller Henderson of the firm of Henderson Hogan hits not improved as much in health as had been expected when he went west lie has written Mr Odoin that he is going to Pasadena Cal to remain until next spring All of jockey J Callahans equipment has arrived at the Downs and that lightweight rider is expected here to join the Odom stable to which he is under contract Since Callahau left Canada he has IKHII resting at his home in Baltimore George J Long will probably send a small siring to race at Lexington Trainer P J Coyne said today This however is not a certainty We shall not make a positive announcement in this connection until next week If Air Long sends any racers there they will be twoyearolds twoyearoldsWorkmen Workmen today commenced demolishing the old ticket otlice at the Fourth avenue entrance to Churchill Downs This marks the passing of the last relic of the early days of this course when it was presided over by Col M Lewis Clark It has recently undergone a great transformation at an outlay of S30 XiO and when it is opened on October 7 for the ninedays fall meeting it will present a pleasing appearance to the racegoing public The great feature on that day will be the ifinOOO Ken lucky Endurance Stakes four miles
