MONTREAL MEETING TO OPEN TODAY No Lack of Horses to Fill tho Blue Bonnets Cards Attractive Program for Opening Montreal Quo September 0 Under conditions much more favorable than were expected the final ineojyng of the Montreal Jockey Club for the present seanTii will be ushered in at Blue Bonnets tomorrow Tlieclijb has provided an eightrace program with three handicaps and the Kings Plate as features The track promises to I o in good condition by to ¬ morrow although the going was heavy this morning morningAside Aside from the running of the Kings Plate in tcjcst will l e centered in tho Earl Grey Cup a dasli of one mile and a quarter J W Schorr has named two for this race Edda and Star Charter The latter is top weight with the steadying Impost of 130 pounds Only three accepted the weights in tho opening race a sixfurlongs sprint with Frog legs in at 120 iKMinds The card generally is well balanced and some keen racing should result The steeplechase which is over tho twomiles course has brought out the largest field ever entered for a crosscountry race at Blue Bonnets There are eleven named to go and as most of them are well tried fencers an interesting struggle should lx seen seenHis His Royal Highness tho Duke of Connaught will attend in state and the occasion will be made a brilliant one socially sociallyEight Eight stakes will be run during the meeting bo sides the Military Cup which is one of the annual fixtures of the fall meetings at Bine Bonnets BonnetsJ J B Respess lost the promising maiden Max Asnr which dropped dead at Windsor on Tuesday last after being worked Plans were laid for a killing at one of the Kentucky meetings with this horse and his work in Canada this summer was good enough to warrant the belief that he would beat fair horses horsesAll All of the officials are on hand and the staff wiil wiilbe be the same that presided at the spring meeting J judgesFred J Burke and Francis Nelson will be the judges Fred Gerhardy the racing secretary and A B Dado Dadothe the starter starterWilliam William Snyder will leave for St Louis at the conclusion of the meeting here to do the starting at the new Universal Kxx sition track recently built under the supervision of Judge Joseph A Murphy Mr Snyder will also do the starting at the Rich ¬ mond meeting meetingContrary Contrary to expectations there arc more than enough horses here for the meeting Most of the races for tomorrow have filled well About sixty horses that raced at the recent King Edward Park meeting were kept over in Montreal to take part in the racing at Bine Bonnets It is stated that next season King Edward Park will be a mile track and will circuitThere be included in the regular Canadian circuit There is likely to be some confusion over tho coupling or noncoupling of tho horses named to go in the Kings Plate tomorrow Under a strict interpretation of the rules all those entered for the race but Bushlark and St Yves will be coupled as an entry but an effort will be made by the as ¬ sociation officials tomorrow to have the steward jKMmit separate betting to be laid against each horse Sans Droit and Floral Crown are tho only two owned by the same owner and they are handled by different trainers It may be that Kilom and Sans Droit which are trained by W V Presgrave will be treated as one entry and that St Laurent Floral Crown and King Saxe which are trained by Allen Bulcroft will run grouped as another entry
