Beats Good Opposition in Feature Race of Sunday Program at Juarez — Joe Dcibold Takes Allowance Race. El Paso. Tex., January 10.— The Rio Crando Selling Stakes, three quarters of a mile, found ten good sprinters at the post. The race was won by J. F. Newmans Texas-bred three-year-old filly Pan Zareta. This tons! Stent daughter of Abe Eratik and Caddie Griffith was iiuotcd. at the liberal odds of 10 to 1 in the betting. Florence Roberts, the California sprinter, set the pace until an eighth from the finish. There she was closely pressed by Pan Zareta and the latter proved gamer in a terrific stretch duel. The Texas filly got to the front in the final stride. Pan Zareta is the most consistent racer here. Two favorites, a second Choice and three outsiders accounted for the card. Obtiaet, winner of the I bird race, opened in the betting at 0 to I and receded to 15 to 1. Shooting Spray, another long shot, and Colinet indulged in a test of endurance for over a quarter of a mile. Colinet finally wore Shooting Spray down. The fifth race. ■ seven furlongs allowance affair, brought together a good field, but unfortunately the start was a bad one. Joe Dcibold. the winner, broke flying, dashed to the front Quickly and was never headed. Injury, the favorite, ran under restraint in the early part of the race, but failed to finish well, as he is accustomed to doing. Selling race activities are still on. Mallet SO. th« winner of the second race, was bid up from 00 to $..oo hy V. Risk, owner of The Peer. Mr. Car son protected his racer and in turn claimed Cant aster for 25. R. F. Carman claimed C. M. Milk:-out of the Rio Grande Selling Stakes for ..MK. C. M. Miller is considered a fairly good handicap horse and was once before the property of Mr. Carman. Jockey Kederis was suspended for five days by the stewards for rough riding in the third race. Jockey P. Hill incurred the displeasure of starter Qnanmy and was given a ssnatemsien of live days.
