RULING COMES TOO LATE TO AFFECT STAKES. Action of Racing Commission Increasing Values in Kentucky Will Apply Only to Purses This Spring. Lexington. Ky.. February 8.— The action of the Kentucky state Racing Commission at it- meeting last Thursday in promulgating an amendment to rub- 13, which carries with it an Increase in the amount of money to be added to stakes and purses by tin- licensed associations conducting race meetings in Kentucky caase a- a result of the direct appeal of breeder-, owner- and trainer- nf horses and the fact that the commission ha- recogniaed their claims as ju-t has afforded them much satisfaction.
