He lias in training at Cumberland Park, In charge of George Hani, thirty-two two-year-olds, besides a number of older hois. . Iloii.ui. a fieiptcnt winner on the flat, with a Ken lucky Derby to his credit, is now being schooled to race through the held. Fight of the Gersl two-yv-sr olds are home-bred, being by Zal and Yorrick. The latter was meant for a higli lass racer, but went wrong after running three or four times. These youngsters are said to be real good lookers and in their trials they have shown speed enough to Warrant the belief that they will develop into Useful racer-Mr. Heist has 1 yearling oul of the fast mare Col! tpiy lb it won so many rices in his colors. This youngster is a colt bv W. W. Hardens stallion Ivan tli- ieniide. lie is all bone and acts like a real runner. In his paddock gallops he was always the lead horse anil btllied the Other yearlings so niuc.i that trainer Ham was forced to turn him out in a smaller paddock witli .1 male for a companion. He is boss of the latter just as he was of tin yearlings. Mr. . Gerst values this youngster highly and no mono, could buy him. Mr. Gersl look over all t10 young stock that Edward S. Gardner had on his Gallatin farm. He wished to purchase the mares and 1I1 stallion Masetto, but Mr. Gardner refuse 1 to -.-I!. preferring to breed his high class mares 10 a Jack. He did. however, team 11 four of his Himyar mares to be mated with thoroughbreds. Among the mans that Air. Gardner mated with a jack was Frognrore, dam of the great colt Fioglegs. Johnny Walters, who i- w inn ring t he horses owned by George M. Hendrie at a farm mar Gallatin, re ports that his sto. 1 has come through the cold weather in grand shape. The three year-old Greal Britain, a good looking colt as a t wo year-old. has tilled out and developed into one of the grandest looking three-year-olds thai Mr. Walters has had tin- fortune to handle. Greal things are expected of this f.llou this year and the ambition of Mr Hendrie to win a Keatucky Derby may tiiially I. realized.
