JEST IS AN EPSOM OAKS WINNER London ICug June 0 At Epsom today the Oaks of 5000 sovereigns for threeyearold lillies over the Derby course was won by J D Joels bay filly Jest by Simdridge Absurdity L Neiimans brown filly Depeche by Gallinulc Petit DIeu finished sec ¬ ond and J P Ilornungs bay filly Arda by St Frusquin Ardmore was third Only twelve started and the post prices were S to 1 against Jest 10 to 1 against Depeche and 100 to against Arda ArdaJest Jest is evidently a good filly She won the One Thousand Guineas at the Newmarket First Spring meeting and in now adding the Oaks to her laurels has achieved a feat unequalled since 1I05 when W Hall Walkers Cherry Lass carried off the two big races and later on ran third to Challacombe and Polymelus in the Doncaster St Leger In 1M1 the famous lilly Pretty Polly did still letter by win ¬ ning all three of the events Jest is not in this years St Leger so she cannot vie with berry Lass and Pretty Polly in lighting out the finish of tlie great Doncaster race but she has engagements in some other rich races to come
