PORTER PATRONAGE IS GROWING Bigger Crowd in Attendance Yesterday Than on Any Day Except July 4 Busiucss is looking up at Mineral Springs More people probably were In attendance yesterday than on any day since the meeting opened except July 4 All hands agreed that It was considerably in excess of that of Thursday Possibly the fact that It was ladies day had something to do with it the feminine attendance being a marked feature of the day With seven races on todays card the best attendance of the meeting so far is expected expectedThe The course of racirg jit that track had been such that a belief was general to the effect that only betting choices had much chance of winning at Mineral Springs This Illusion was rudely dispelled yesterday when Palma won the second race at G to 1 and Darkey followed this shock by taking tho fourth race at the much longer odds of 25 to 1 In the Palma race Eva Tanguay was well backed but was caught in the webbing and had her chance extinguished at once Two others were off tangled up Otilo being one that ran so well as to suggest he would have won if away in the leading division Darkey ran a good race but there is no doubt that Juno W would havo won but for getting off badly Her race showed her to be ready to win she finish ¬ ing with great speed speedRiding Riding accidents but not of serious character attended the running of the last two races In the fifth Artful Arts bridle became loose and she bumped Into Inclement when nearing the stretch Tho riders Waldron and Delaby took headers while their mounts went on Both were pretty well shaken up In the last race jockey Taplin was scraped from his horse as the barrier went up but was lot hurt hurtWill Will McDaniel who trained the horses owned by dishing Orth during the year they enjoyed the phenomenal success of winning all the principal Derbys including the Washington Park Worlds Fair Derby with Boundless is now assisting J S Wallace in the secretarys office at Mineral Springs SpringsH H C Riddle who at one time trained the ex ¬ tensive string owned by Tlchenor Newgass is the acting patrol and paddock judge at the track trackTho Tho program book with the conditions for six days racing beginning with next Monday will be distributed to owners tomorrow by Secretary Wal ¬ lace
