MISS NICHOLS CASE DISPOSED OF Mineral Springs Judges Decide That She Is Not a Ringer Biggest Crowd Out The Miss Nichols case was yesterday disposed of simply by the judges at Mineral Springs Park When she finished first in the last race of the day before the official confirmation of the placing of the three first horses was reserved overnight leav ng the result in suspension The investigation con ¬ ducted convinced the judges that the mare was the one that she had been represented to be So the race was officially confirmed and bets were paid accordingly But they vrero not convinced that she was a maiden and pending further investiga ¬ tion on that point payment of tne purse was oe ferred It is said she won a race at Evansvllle luil some years back If she Is found to havo won she will bo disqualified and General will be awarded first money The moneyThe best attendance of the tracks history made it a busy place yesterday and presages a greater crowd for this the last day of tho meeting The racing was uneventful except in tho downfall of some hotly backed favorites Dipper being backed down from 4 to 1 to ovens without having any ¬ thing to do with tho finish However a good thing did go through when Klsie Herndou won the third race after having also b eii pounded down from 4 to 1 to even money Tony moneyTony W acted outrageously while at the post in the first raco and after throwing his rider several times in his frantic plunges and delaying the start for sixteen minutes was ordered out of the race and sent to his barn barnThe The best finish of tho day came In the second race a dash of four and a half furlongs for two yearolds Pulsation raced into a long lead but was unwisely used and after leading to the last six ¬ teenth gave way quickly when challenged simul ¬ taneously by Claxonette and Miss Barn Harbor this pair driving home locked and Claxonette finally winning in the last stride of a vigorously ridden finish finishThe The track was in better condition to race over than on any other time since the meeting opened and fairly good time was recorded recordedI I B Fitzgeralds racers were shipped last night to Windsor WindsorCharles Charles T was scratched out of the second race after the bugle had called the horses to the post His withdrawn was due to his owners failure to deposit the riding fee and Mondon refused to ride unless ho was assured payment for the mount Those who bet on Charles T had their money refunded refundedCharlie Charlie Lusk broke down hopelessly In the third race and was with ditticulty gotten off the track Stick Pin was another in the same race to come out of it in bad condition conditionCasques Casques victory in the fourth race rendered him ineligible for the ace in which he was entered to todayAll start today All Bed and Lighthouse showed much lameness after their respective races There will be a number of horses rested at the Mineral Surings track in anticipation of the second period of 15 days racing scheduled to begin August 21 21A A I Steeles horses that have been campaigned at Mineral Springs were shipped last night to Windsor Jockey Steele will leave tonight for tho Canadian track His mounts today are Golden Itamhle Uoyal Dolly Doc Allen Otllo and Black ¬ smith
