OLD ROSEBUD CARDED TO START Western Champion Will Make His Eastern Debut in Flash Stakes at Saratoga Today Saratoga N Y August 1 After a lapse of two years racing will tomorrow once again come into its own as the chief attraction at this resort Ex ¬ cept perhaps in the matter of attendance the sport will not differ greatly from that of former days when Saratoga was annually the meeting place for stables from east and west and the scene of thrilling contests between the pick of the thorough ¬ breds representing each of these sections The same condition will exist in this respect this season The lower of eastern and western racers are here and will be pitted against each other In spirited contests during the next few weeks weeksThe The crowd that has gathered here for the racing naturally falls short in numbers as compared with the throngs that visited Saratoga in the days when raciijg was in its heydey Still there are a good many racing enthusiasts here and their ranks will be greatly increased as the meeting progresses Practically all the Important person ¬ ages of the turf have planned to see some of the racing at least and most of them will be here for meetingThe the entire meeting The racing program provides for twentyfive racing days every day in the week winding up on August 30 Twentynine stakes including many historic features will be run and judging by the class of horses engaged in them the best racing of the year should be seen seenTomorrows Tomorrows card is made up of the valuable Sara ¬ toga Handicap the Flash Stakes the ShllielaU Steeplechase two selling races and a race for two yearold maidens The fields are naturally smaller than will be the rule later on when more horsos will have arrived arrivedWhile While the Saratoga Handicap will be the chief offering from a monetary and historic standK int it will be overshadowed in Interest by the Flash Stakes in which Old Rosebud champion twoyear old of the west Is asked to make considerable con ¬ cessions of weight to Stromboli and other good east ¬ ern juveniles No horse is attracting more attention in the east than Old Rosebud with his splendid record of ten firsts out of twelve starts In spilt of the weight concessions that he is asked to make he will rule an overwhelming favorite In the betting
