DETAILS OF DENVER DEAL. W. A. Read and Associates Take Option on Overland Park Property at 23,500. Denver. Colo., February 27. A Canadian racing syndicate, headed by W. A. Read of Vancouver, B. C. has signed an option for the purchase of Overland Park for a consideration said to be close to 20,500. It is the intention of the prospective purchasers to reopen Overland Park for thoroughbred racing. Already arrangements have been made for thirty-two days of racing on this course the coming summer in the event that the deal is consummated. Mr. Read and others interested in the proposition with him were in Denver recently looking over the situation and negotiating with representatives cf the Wolcott estate, owners of the track, to secure an appraisement of the property, which comprises 150 acres, inclusive of the railroad right of way and the Platte river. The Canadian capitalists em-plovcd the appraisal committee of the Denver Real Estate I-xchange. which is composed of John F. Conway " D. P. Fulenwider, II. W. Humphrey, Victor R. Olmstead and Henry Vanschaack. After examining the property the committee reported an appraisement of 2;,.ri00, which was satisfactory to the prospective purchasers. The price Is to embrace all the buildings and other improvements on the grounds, including the clubhouse, grandstand, exposition buildings and stables. The option for the sale of the property runs until .May 1, at which time it is expected that the title i will change hands and steps taken to prepare the i mile track in the park for racing. , .Members of the syndicate contemplating the purchase of the property are interested in the Minora 1 Park track at Vancouver. The deal is the most - inqiorlant which has come up in Denver for some time and is of much significance to tho city. It is conceded that the re-establlshuieut of racing in Denver would do much to help liven up business in general and be the means of bringing many additional people to the city from outside points. According to the present plans of Mr. Read, the racing will take place in July".
