GBNBKAL VILLA raced FOI.DEROL into defeat in the first quarter and. standing a hard drive gamely, outstayed FINALES. The latter began slowly and was outrun for the first quarter, then finished fast after having closed up much ground. TIE PIN ran in impioving form and finished with a rush. FOI.DEROL set the early pace, but tired badly after running three-eighths and is said to have bad hares. ALHENA begaa slowly. Overweights — Tie Pin, 2 pounds. SANCTIM took the lead at once and made all the running, but was hard pressed by BRONTE through the last smarter. The latter moved up gamely after clearing tin- last jump, but wav bumped and forced out by the winner after catering the stretch and but for this would have won. A claim of foul was made, but not allowed. TOM CAT ran a good raee. IDLE MICHAEL ran a dull race and probably was not ready. THIRD RACE— 5 1-2 Furlongs. 02722—1:00-5—2—110.. BEHEST was saved close up behind the leaders to the stretch, where he slipped through next to the rail and, saving much ground, finished fast and outgained RAT MASTERSON in the final drive. Tin- latter ran in suddenly improved form and was much used in rating SKEETS into defeat, but finished fast after having made a wide stretch turn. RYE STRAW always held a good posltioa and had no mishaps. SKEETS tired after showing the most earlv speed and setting the pace to the last eighth. DEDUCTION was giveu a poor start, which killed his chances. DOIBLE FIVE showed early speed, but tired. ETHELBURC II. and CAPTAIN ELLIOTT finished well. BitYNI.lMAH was in light quartets Wr the first three-quarters, out finished fast and ran a good race. HOOD DAY had a rough race and was knocked about considerably. CARLTON G. could not keep up in the early running, but made up gi id in t lie stretch. COUNTERPART ran a good three-quarters. Overweights — Royal Meteor, 2 po»nds.
