INVITE KING TO RACE AT OTTAWA. Connaught Park Jockey Club Management Hopeful That Invitation Will Be Accepted. Ottawa, Out. May 14. — Visitors to Connaught Barks autumn meeting may see the royal colors in races. "King George V.." says the Ottawa Journal, "will likely race two horses from the royal stables at the fall race meeting here. One of the directors of the local jockey Club informed the Journal that efforts were being made to have the kings entry for the fall meeting and that they now appeared likely to be successful. His Royal Highness, the Muke of Connaught. a keen follower and lover of the sport, is aiding the local jockey club to secure the entry. If successful, it will be the first time the king has entered a horse in any race on the American -ontinent. and it would be a signal honor tor the local club." Old Rosebud, winner of the Kentucky Derby, re-■■ntly run. is among the eutries for the Merchants Stakes, the ,888 feature for three-year-olds that will Ik- run as the leading attraction of the spring meeting at Connaught Bark. Others among the forty-nine eutries for the race are: Southern .Maid. Recoil, Surprising. Black Broom. Trumps. David Craig. Luke Mel.uk- and Vandergi ift. Sixty five mvv stalls have been added to the -tables and there will be acommodatious at Connaught Bark for !." • horses. His Royal Highness, the Muke of Connaught. will open the spring meeting and will present the purse to the successful owner in the Merchants Handicap.
