Mackenzie stable made an important gain in earnings over their record of 1013, when they returned an aggregate jjf 5.2S1. Biickhorn is one of the best handicap horses of the time and, being in capital fenn, rolled up enough in money won to give him eleventh place in the list of thirty leading winners of the jear. He was ono of the few horses which defeated the Hying Roamer, a feat to his credit in the Empire City Handicap,- July jig,. The speedy Star Shoot filly, Sea Shell, won one of the richest stake races of the year for-" two-year-olds. Helen Barbee was in rare form for a good part of the year, but seemed to become stale in the full. Leo Skolny and San Vega won some good races and should prove useful four-year-olds.
