PERFORMANCES OF AMERICAN HORSES IN ENGLISH AUTUMN RACING ; In English lhit racing in the course of the period from August 2S to November 2S, inclusive, American-hied horses were placed in eighty-three races, of which they won twenty-nine. None of the races won was or nrst-rate importance, the most valuable being Cheerful Durham Stakes, at the Newmarket Houghton meeting, which netted ,100. Cheerful is a good, but unlucky, horse and, if well ridden, would have won the Cambridgeshire.- Ills half brother, Matelot, won the Ilaydock Autumn Handicap, of the net value of l.iiiO, for the since battle-slain turfman, W.
