MINIMUM PURSE WILL BE 400 In another column will be found the formal an nouucemeiit of the Business Mens Racing Associa ¬ tion of New Orleans of the dates and plans for tin second animal winter meeting commencing January 1 and ending Alardi Gras day March 7 The meeting will be longer than last winter when forty days of racing were given the coming meeting extending over tiftysix days of racing This addition is duo to the late dato of Mardi Gras GrasAs As the plan of betting lias been approved by the district attorney and grand jury there will ho nothing to mar tho success of the meeting which promises to produce brilliant sport The announce ¬ ment that no purse of less than 400 will be given is in line with the policy of the association to give as much as it can afford to the horsemen Last winter it Voluntarily raised the jturses from its announced amount and the promise is held out that the overnight handicaps will be increased as the business warrants An attractive list of stakes will hi announced later laterThe The otlicials will be the same as those of last winter Joseph A Murphy acting as manager and presiding judge A B Dade as starter and Joseph McLennan and Jack CaMikrtiell completing the com ¬ petent otlicinl corps
