PREMIER AUSTRALIAN SIRE DIES DIESThe The death occurred at Rylstone Australia early in April of the wellknown sire Grafton which was bred in England in 1S94 and as a yearling was purchased by Richard Marsh on behalf of Baron dc Hirscli for 3800 guineas In 1890 he was bought by Mr Agar Wynne for 500 guineas but on being taken to Australia it was found useless attempting to train him Ho was leased by Mr Wynne to Messrs Thompson Bros of Rylstone Stud for two years and then for another year with the option of purchase for 5000 He be ¬ came the property of Messrs Thompson Bros and from his first season was a success He headed the winning list in 1004 1907 1908 and 1000 ccording to figures in n Melbourne exchange his progeny in fifteen years have won 1587 races worth 1021745 his principal contributor this season lieing Cetigne Prominent winners siroil by him include Pont Sylvnnlte Duke of Ornfton Lady Rvlstono lownit Jmsspan Grafnell Graf mix and Tangaroa Ho was by Jalopln from Maid Marian dam of Englands crack sire Polymelus by Hampton from Quiver by Tosophilite from a halfsister to Muskets dam
