SECOND FORT ERIE MEETING PROSPECTS F0INT TO ENJOYABLE RACING, BUT OVER A HEAVY TRACK. Borrow Arrives to Contest the Valuable Dominion Handicap — Pan Zarcta May Not Start — Windsors Big Purses Attractive. P.uftalo. N. V.. August ::. The final meeting of the- Niagara Racing Association lor the primal car begins tomorrow with the opening of tin- second seven-dnys meeting at Fort Brie. President John II. Ma digiu and his associates have provided a well balanced program "t seven races, with tin- Dominion Handicap as tlie big feature. Tin- conditions of this 96,000 stake- call for a clash of one mile and a quarter. There are eleven carded to go to tin- aaat, with Harry Payne Whitneys Borrow top weight at l..o pounds. Borrow arrived yesterday from Saratoga. with Harmonicon. Carbide get* in at Oo pounds ami at the weight allotment tin- race appeals an open affair, which means that a stirring contest should be tlie order. Much depends upon the condition ol" the track as to the outcome, several of those named being known to lie best over a fast track. It now seems as if the going will be extreiuely beavy. A sprint handicap at three-quarters and a five ami a half furlongs clash for two-j ear-olds will eliviile interest with the running of tlie Dominion Handicap. For the former Pan Zareta has been assigned 130 pounds and on her showing at Hamilton over a heavy track it seems a certainty that she will be an absentee. There are other good horses in the nee, however, and her absence should not detract from its interest. In the two-year-old allowance race the Kentucky crack. Dodge, is meeting some fair youngsters. Dodge is a capital mud runner and this gives him a decided advantage- over the- others. He- is i hi:,, sturdy olt and the deeper the going the better be likes it. Apart from the Dominion Handicap, two other stakes will be run eluriiig the meeting, the Iroquois Hotel Handicap, for two-year olds at live and a half furlongs, ami the Canadian Sportsmans Handicap, one mile and a sixteenth. Several stables that wen- net here- for the first meeting will in- represented in both of them stakes, which will tend additional interest. Racing Secretary J. B. Campbell bas provided a number of races for horses that an- geod over a considerable distance of ground anil lioth of the long-distance races on todays program have attracted good entries. In fact, they havo fillet better than flu- sprint races. Joseph A. Murphy will again be- on hand as the representative of the Canadian Racing Associations and the other oflicials will he the same as for the first meeting. Before shipping his horses from Hamilton to Windsor. Herman Brandt concluded arrangements with Willie Martin for the mi lies a of his apprentice, F. Cooper, Im the- Windsor meeting, which means that tin- Jefferson Livingston stable will have first call on the lad for that meeting. Ihe announcement of the Windsor Jockey Club that all of its purses for its next meeting would be 00 and upward, has resulted in several eastern owners deciding to ship from Saratoga to Windsor and the meet ing at that poOit. which follows Fort Brie, promises to excel the first meeting iii import-am e. In accordance with a ruling of flu- Canadian Racing Associations some time ago the Niagara Racing A--i-iition will strictly enforce the rule which pi i vides that no child under fifteen years of age shall be admitted to the- race track. The Pinkertons will slso sec- that no handbooklng is going on. ah those caught making sack a I k will in- ejected from the track and farther admission denied them.
