CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey 8. Byrne had the misfortune to kill a boy with his automobile at Jamaica a day or two ago. He was exonerated at the Inquest. Former jockeys Jack Martin. Walter Miller. Wiilie Shaw. C. H. Shilling and "fuddin" Mellaniel were visitors at Brlmirnt Lark Saturday. Martin is a hotel proprietor at Monroe, N. Y., and Miller is in business in New York city. The Cassatl string will git a fortnight* rest at Belmont lark while trainer J. Simon Healy is breaking the yearlings that he has just taken up. Albert Simons will handle the L. S. Thompson horses that will race at Havre de Grace. John Banford has received a cable that two yearlings have been ■hipped lo him from Kngland on the Minnehaha, due at New York September 20. One is a colt by Solferino. out of the dam of Hedfern. one of the boat two-year-olds in Kngland in 1!»14. The other is a tilly named Madame Curie, by Radium, out of the dam of The Curragh. Pnrdey, which made his lirst start in this country at Belmont lark Monday, was sent over with the idea of being tamed over to Jimmy Owens to be schooled over the jumps. James Howe saw him lirst. however, and decided to give him a chance on the Hat. Judging from his showing in the Manhattan Handicap, he is destined to win many races.
