BUT IS BET BACK FOR FOULING FRISKY. a t Meeting Proposed for Mobile to Follow New Orleans — Bringhurst Makes a Winning Debut — Okla- j homa Decision Pleases Horsemen. i New Orleans. La., January 12. — The first dis- , qualification here developed with the running of the second race, when Tito, after finishing first la ; a hard drive over Mary Jay and Frisky, was placed . last for subjecting Frisky to interference in the last eighth. Titos displacement gave the purse . 1o Mary Jay, moved Frisky up into second pta.ee . and gave J. D. Sugg third money. Tito was probably liest and came from a long way hack in the stretch, but Collins persisted in allowing the colt to hump Frisky. Collins was suspended for six i days by Judge Murphy for rough ridiug. Cloudy weather did not have a deterrent effect on the patronage, another generous crowd being an hand. Favorites fared well, most of them account- ing for the purses. In fact, it is after several meetings and ncepones lo fill in tile time before and after New Orleans each winter and the opening and closing of racing in Maryland and Kentucky. Yesterday a committee of three composed of Frederick Thompson, proprietor of the Mobile Register, Henry Hull, president of the First National Bank, and William B. lngcan. attorney, arrived in the cily to ask the co-operation of manager Joseph A. Murphv and steward Thomas C. Campbell in their efforts to establish racing. Mobile i- rich in racing traditions, reaching back to before the war. Mr. Thompson, as spokesman for the committee, asked Judge Murphy to take the entire management of the plans to revive racing in the Gulf city . While I had hoped for a rest after we get through here and before my work starts in the spring In the north and Canada. I feel that it is my duty, when business men of the class of these come to inc. to help them. I am satisfied that the horsemen will help if we decide to race. said Judge Murphy. If the plans mature a meeting of ten days will be held on lines similar to those here with the opening on Match l."i. Lucky George came out of his race in a bad way yesterday and had to be withdrawn this afternoon. There were a number of newcomers today, including Charles Haggerty from Louisville. Horsemen here hailed with joy the action f the Supreme Court of Oklahoma declaring the anti racing law of that State unconstitutional. Some time ago several rich oil men of Tulsa invited manager Murphy of the Business Mens Racing Association to go to that city, offering to build a modem mile track for him. but bis engagements in the north and Canada prevented him nan going. With the law finally adjusted it is likely that the matter will be reopened. Coventor Williams stated some time ago that he "onld advocate the passage of a law to legalize the pari-mntuel form of betting in the state, BO that any racing legislation that may be enacted hereafter probably will be along those lines.
