v DEAD HEAT MARKS JUAREZ RACING. El Paso. Texas. February 2.1. — The warm and pleasant weather that has been prevailing of late lias served to still further increase the patronage accorded the racing at Juarez. The attendance is now uniformly better than at any time during the meeting. A dead heat between Lola and Billy Culbertson in the third race today was an incident out of the ordinary. Lola was the favorite aud appeared to have the purse at her mercy in the stretch until Billy Culbertson came with a second challenge aud got up on even terms with the Ferriss filly light at the end. The purse was divided. The frequently disappointing Olga Star accounted I for the seven-eighths handicap that was carded 1 as the days feature in a hard drive with Dundreary. Dp to date this Oily has faced the barrier in no less than thirty-three races and in not MM of them has she come boose in front, although she has been placed eight times. The stable of the El Paso turfman. K. J. 0Coa-nell. has taken over the contract of jockey J. Howard. Mr. OConnel! will look atler the riders engagements in the future. I.. The Kaiisan reports that his son Charles will again ride tor the Quincy Stable in the east. Jockey T. Henry, who is under suspension for rough riding, will leave shortly for Hot Springs. Ark., to do some riding before going to Kentucky. Phil Musgrave will ship his stable Hem here to Baltimore and will race on the New York tracks later on. Jockey J. Howard was suspended for the rest of the meeting and denied further admission to the course for rough riding in the fifth race.
