I. ., March 25. — When the spring racing season in the east is epeaed on April 2. with the beginning of the twelve-day meeting of tlie southern Maryb ad Agricultural Association at the Howie track, there will be more and better hor- s on band than ever before. So numerous have been the applications for stable room that the capacity at the track has been so overtaxed that the building of a hundred additional stalls was accessary. This work has just been completed, so that by the opening da] nearly a thousand thoroughbreds will be on hand. During tho past few days quite a number of horses have reached the track from various sections of the e .entry. While a great many have arrived from sections where the sport has been conducted with a great deal of success during tho cold weather, many have arrived from their winter quarters anil are now nei iving some preparations for the opening of the meeting. A canvass of the stables at the track disclosed the fact that the horses wiuti red at Howie are now-ready to race. In addition to the older horses, a large number of two-vear-olds which will face the barrier for the first time during the coming meeting are in KTSJBd cmiition and will be as fit as a fiddle to take part i:i the in port mt juvenile races offered by the association. lackey .1. Water I;ady looks better now than at any time in her racing caricr. and. while Ioinlage did not grow a great deal or take on any great amount of flesh, he looks fine, and will no doubt improve a great deal with racing. While not possessing a great deal of early speed, Rondage is a wonderful stretch runner, which he .! ntonstrated clearly at the close of the racing sea-sin at the BOW he track last fall, when he defeated some of the best horses in training. November 29 he was winner of the Consolation Handicap at a mile, defeating ISnybtrry Candle, King Neptune. Holiday, Baddys Choice. Christie ami Curraghaleen. In this BMC BoadSpe was badly outpaced in the early raaaiasj and did not eeaasaewee to run freely until he hit the head of the stretch, where ha passed tie- leaders one by one and. in a driving finish, got up in time to get the verdict from I.ayberry Candle. He came out of the race in great candition and the next day was again sent to the post in the Thank-giving Handicap, which was at a mile and a s; teenth.
