ALL READY FOR ACTION AT OTTAWA. Good Field to Contest the Duke of Connaught Cup — Abundance of Horses Present. Ottawa. Out.. June 15. The Duke of Connaught Cup. a daah of one mile, to which Sl.lliiO is added, is provided as a feature for the opening of the seven days meeting al Caaaaaghl Park tomorrow. It brings together a field of ten with Hubbub top weight at lit! pounds. The latter runs coupled with the three -year old Waukeag as the Press entry. Damroseh. which has been a disappoint -nmit so far this aeaaaa, gets in favorably at 107 pounds, ami it is possible that a ehaaauj of tracks and surroiindiiigs may bring improvement in his form. A steeplechase is an added attraction and a well matched band are named to go in this race. The track is in better condition than at any time since it was built and, with the meeting well advertised throaghoat the surrounding country, a succes fu] season of racing is anticipated by" the club. Th.-re are more horses here than ever before as is shown by the fields entered for the opening day of the meeting. A majority of the big stables that raced at Btae Beaaets shipped over. Some few wen- delayed in coming on account of the shortage of cars, but the late comers are due to arrive in the morning. The officials will be practically the same as at Mae Rennets, except that Herman Conklin will be th- presiding judge. Francis Nelson will bo in the stand and A. R. Dade will do the starting. Euterpe to Be Bred to Malamont. Dr. llanby has announced that he would breed the Oft Wells mar.-. Eaterpe to the Flying Fox stallion Malamont. Ed Whalen. who has been training Euterpe for Dr. Baaley, has won no loss than thirty-eight purses with the mare. She will probably carry colors until the conclusion of the Caliaiiian racing season August 1. when she will be retired to tie- lLinley Farm at Kingston. Ont. Several of tiie apprentice riders up here will be at Saratoga, among them Crump, A. Johnson and Donohue. The latter, who is just a beginner, continues to show good form in the saddle and some shrewd horsemen have predicted a bright future for him. Geae EtormBe remained over in Montreal with his stable for the Mount Royal meeting. He made an addition to his string yesterday hy the purchase of the long distance horse Jack Reeves from E. W. Moore. The time set for the running of the first race by the Oaaamaght Park Jockey Club is l:30. This is half an hour later than at Blue Bonnets. Jockey Merimee returned to Windsor from Montreal last night, where he will remain for the balance of the Devonshire meeting. He will be here on Monday next with a division of the W. A. Rurttsohell horses, which is to be sent up for the meeting
