THOROUGHBRED AGAINST TROTTER Lexington. Ky.. May 4. — Taking exception to th° statement that the trot ting -bred horse can stdud more hard work than any other type of horse. John E. Madden, of Hamburg Place, this county, ha -issued a challenge to match a thoroughbred runne-for not less than ,000 against any trotter for *i . or nine heats during the Lexington meeting next fall. Ho will do this without taking the harness off between heats, each starter to carry 150 pounds. This, of course, means that the match will ha n harness, yet the main | oiiit is rather ambiguous, for the reason that Madden says nothing about whether the thoroughbreds will trot in harness or gallop.
