ORBYS SPLENDID DAUGHTER DIADEM Diadem missed her engagement in the June Stakes and is judiciously being indulged with an easy time as I hear she went light in condition after her big and brilliant effort at Manchester but there is nothing wrong with her and no doubt she will be as good as ever again after a rest It does not often fall to the lot of a trainer to have two such champions in his stable as Diadem and Phala ris but such is the good fortune of the Hon George Lambton who thinks almost as much of them as he would of a classic winner as indeed Diadem actually is as she won the One Thousand Guineas and it seems strange bearing in mind how success ¬ ful lias been his patronage of Orby that Lord dAbernon should have abandoned him for Llan gibby which is responsible for the mares half brother Dionysos which is utterly unworthy of tin close relationship London Sportsman SportsmanThe The Manchester race referred to was the Sal ford Borough Handicap in which Diadem carried tha crusher of 134 pounds and defeated Irish Elegance Grand Fleet and sis other extremely fast horses to all of which she gave great weight concessions
