THE REDUCTION OF BRITISH RACING The annual volume of the English Racing Calendar shows some figures of interest The statistics show that during last season there were in England 315 races of a total value of 197305 in Ireland 357 races of the total value of 279855 and in Scotland twelve races of the total value of 510020 These figures show a great reduction from normal times for instance in 1913 the table was as follows Eng ¬ land lOOS races of the total value of 25I3300 Ireland 350 races of the total value of 201125 and Scotland eightysix races of the total value of 00925 The number of horses of different ages which ran in 1917 was 1911 whereas in iui3 there were 4055
