LATONIA CHAMPIONSHIP STAKES DATA Manager Hachmeister Issues Book Containing Im ¬ portant Information on Americas Richest Race RaceCincinnati Cincinnati O October 12 Important informa ¬ tion in relation to the richest of all American races present or projected and perhaps the richest of all races in any part of the world since the rich tnrf prizes of England and France have either lieen dis ¬ continued or reduced in value on account of the great world war is conveyed in a Iwok of 101 pases just issued by General Manager John Hach ¬ meister of the Latoiiia Jockey Club containing a mass of datu connected with the initial running f the r000 Latonia Championship Stakes in the lutiinin of 1919 and the 191 renewal of the same race raceThe The book is undoubtedly the most pretentious pub ¬ lication ever issued in connection with one particular race in the history of the American turf It is heing mailed to the nominators of the 471 thor ¬ oughbreds named for the 1919 miming of the Rice ind also to all who contributed to the total of 342 nominations received for the second running of this extraordinarily rich event in 1920 These nominators are scattered all over the world a con ¬ siderable number of the entries received for both runnings of the nice having come from the im ¬ portant breeding studs of France England Ireland ind other foreign countries yhere the breeders of the thoroughbred horse are alive to the desirability jf nominating the produce of their studs for such i rich and important event as the Latonia Cham ¬ pionship Stakes is destined to become becomeThe The book shows that of the 471 nominations origi ¬ nally made for the 1919 running of the Latonia Championship Stakes on March 1 1917 339 still remain eligible The remaining 132 have been de ¬ clared at various times since the original closing late under the conditions of the race calling for progressive payments of subscription fees January t 1919 is the final date named in the condi ¬ tions of the race for declarations All eligibles remaining in after that date will be liable for the Till fee of 110 110The The Lfitonia Championship Stakes for 1919 is a sire of one mile and threequarters for threeyear olds of that season Its probable gross value is estimated at the princely smi of 50000 of which Jl 5000 is directly contributed by the Latonia Jockey lull in the form of added money ltis stjliited fliat the race will lie worth something like 40400 to the winner in addition to a gold cup valued at 1000 a gift from the Thoroughbred Horse Asso ¬ ciation by private subscription of certain of its members The remaining 10000 is ti go to the second third and fourth horses and to the nomi ¬ nators of the first three horses The race is to be strictly without penalties and allowances the con ¬ ditions providing that colts and geldings shall carry 122 pounds and fillies 119 pounds It is a nice in which the champion threeyearold of the year will not l e asked to make any concessions to inferior opposition and therefore is one that puts i premium upon the breeding of high class thor ¬ oughbreds oughbredsNOTABLE NOTABLE TWO YEAR OLDS ELIGIBLE ELIGIBLEAmong Among the notable American twoyearolds of this year that still remain eligible for this great race are P A Clarks Dunboyne winner of the Futurity at Belniont Park last month and J W McClellands Eternal winner of the Hopeful Stakes it Saratoga in August The Futurity and the Hope ¬ ful are the richest of American stakes for two yearolds Other eligibles for the Latonia Cham ¬ pion Stakes of 1919 that have been racing with JistinctJon in the juvenile contests of this year in ¬ clude E U Bradleys Batter Cake S C Hildrcths Lord Brighton It F Carmans The Boy V It Coes Uncles Lassie and Star Realm II H Hewitts Sam Heh Friend l e sides the highly tried colt Pride of India which has not yet raced Harry Payne Whitneys Cresson tMgecn Wing and Stickling and Williams Bros Linden to say nothing of numerous lesser lights of the present juvenile division some of which may levelop i to shining lights of the turf when the stretching out of the distances over which they will race as threeyearolds may brin to light latent lualities of stamina the existence of which is not now suspected suspectedExcept Except for an increase in the amount of money going to the first four horses and their nominators the conditions for the second running of this notable nice in 1920 follow closely the lines of the original provisions A change has been made in the method ind amounts of the preliminary payments in con ¬ nection with nominations for the race The book shows Capt A P Hancock of the Claiborne Stud Paris Ky as the principal nominator with twenty nine nominations Other American breeders es ¬ pecially well represented anirng the 342 nomina ¬ tions received for the race include the following Breeder Nominats Breeder Nominats J O Keene 17 Edward Cebrian H P Whitney 115 A Belmont A K Macomber l5 H P Headlv II T Oxnard England and Robert Whitworth Halt fax England EnglandAnother Another notable innovation shown by the book is that coincident with the barring of the Uitonia Derby to geldings next year and the increase of the value of that notable race for threeyearolds to something like 30000 the breeders of the first three horses in that important event will share in the nrize money to the extent of 500 to first 200 to second and 100 to third Except in the Futuritv and similar events no such provision has ever been made for the encouragement of American breeders
