CUBAN OPENING POSTPONED Inauguration of Havana Meeting Deferred to Saturday Dec 7 Change Made Principally to toAvoid Avoid Conflict With WithKentucky Kentucky Racing New York NovemlKr 25 The Cuba American Jockey Club has announced a ppstiKmement of the opening of its meeting it Orion till 1jirk Cubi until Saturday December 7 Several reasons brought about this change in the iilans of the club First the extension of the fall meeting at Latonia was to be considered Alwiut fifty i er cent of the inutnel ers employed at Oriental Park serve in a like fapacity at Latonia and Frank T Bruen auditor for the Cuba American Jockey Club is also em Itloyed at Latonia When it was decided to con liiiue racing at Latonia until the close of Novem ¬ ber it meant that these men would be unable to be in Cuba for the opening of the meeting also that the shipment of the 2 H odd horses booked to leave Latonia for Oriental 1ark would also be delayed Apart from this the CubaAmerican Jockey Club had no desire to conflict with Kentucky racing and it was decided that it would be to the best interests of all to set back the opening of the winter season of racing in Cuba one week It was ji happy decision and was more than pleasing to all as it afforded everyone ample time to finish out the season at Iitonia and be on hand for the opening at Oriental Park ParkIn In speaking of the matter Mr Brown said Many of my employes were in a quandary when Iitonia aniotinccd that their meeting would have to be extended until the end of November owing to the action of the Kentucky State Hoard of Health whan tileinfluenza epidemic was on The Jiossi ricnYtoo were upset a bit over the matter ami 1 onsilereil their interests as well as our own when I dwided to postpone our opening The horsemen liave responded generously in making entries to our stakes und the nominations to these events total up to about COO COOWe We will have about COO horses at Oriental Park this winter and our imtrons will be well served ts they are t much better class than any that ever raced in Cuba in previous years George W Loft will send down about twelve Clarence Buxtoii will take a strong stable from New York for Joe Mar rone and Gene Leigh will ship about twentyfive and included in their number will lie a dozen the property of Mrs L A Livingston of the Kaneocas Stinl in New Jersey Among the stables Jeaving from Kentucky are F D Weir Kay Spenee and Howard Oots Tie latters horses will be in charge of M Lowenstein LowensteinTwo Two specials have already reached Havana from Maryland and another pulls out from there imme ¬ diately after the close of the meeting at Howie Ttvo specials will also leave Lntonin for Cuba folhwng the close of the racing season in Ken ¬ tucky
