McKINLEY INJURED IN FRENCH DERBY Mr Vandcrbilts good colt McKinley was pre ¬ vented from running in the Grand Prix de Paris because of an injury received in the running of the French Derby won by his stablemate Tchad In this race McKinley was forced out on the turn for bone where Insensible swerving across the course took with him those which Were on his bridle hand When McKinley returned to the paddock to weigh in bruises aud a slight trickling of blood on his off foreleg showed that he had been struck into but it was thought that rest and attention would enable him to fulfill his engagement in the Grand Prix These hopes were unfortunately not realized Treat ¬ ment with ice and cold water to subdue inflamma ¬ tion appeared to have been effective but after a gallop with Tchad the trouble appeared more pro ¬ nounced than ever and his owner promptly withdrew his horse deciding to reserve him for the backend stake races
