Won handily: second and third driving. FLYING ORB, away forwardly, set a fast early pace, withstood repeated challenges and held on gamely through the last quarter under punishment. BRIGHT GOLD was a forward contender all the way. hut was bumped frequently and was running out under punishment in the stretch drive. ORLEANS GIRL was in close quarters in the early running, but finished fast when clear and outstayed SMITE. in the final drive. The latter also raced in close quarters for a half. Won easily; second and third driving. WHIST II. always held the race safe and, fencing cleanly, drew away when challenged in the last eighth. HOUDINI, saved behind the leaders in the early racing and saving ground when passed, moved up gamely in the last quarter, but tired in the final drive. WAR STRENGTH fenced well. but was" not persevered witli when beaten. STRAD1VARIUS was a forward contender in the early running, but made several poor landings and lost his rider at the twelfth jump. PETER PIPER, running to his best form, took the lead quickly and, making the pace fast, held on gamely when put under hard pressure and outstayed MASDA in the final drive. MASDA was a forward contender all the way, closed up gamely in the final strides under punishment and outstayed WAR DRIVE. The latter ran clear of interference all the way and moved up at the eighth post, but was tiring at the end. LORD BRIGHTON was away forwardly and met with no apparent mishaps. STAR HAMPTON ran a fairly good race. JOCK SCOT showed early speed. LUCULLITE set a .great pace and displayed brilliant speed in the early running, then was taken under hard restraint until in the filial eighth, where he drew away and gamely outstayed STAR MASTERS challenge. The latter raced wide all -the way, but came with a rush through the stretch. NATURALIST ran well for three-quarters and tired. ENFILADE tired badly in -the stretch and was eased up. The latter set a fast pace and drew away in the early running, but was tiring fast in the closing strides. ROYAL DUCK was shuUled back at the start. K HEWER ran well. SWIRL set a fast, pace and, being hard ridden all. the way, held RICOCHET safe at the end. The latter hud no mishaps and ran a game race. LIOLA displayed speed for a half. MUFFINS ran green.
