SOME CANADIAN TRACKS TO GO Rumors of Likely Legislation Against Minors Fort Erie May Be in Danger TORONTO ONT March 13 Much interest is being shown at Ottawa in the legislation which may be brought down by the government as a result of the report on race courses and betting which was tabled in the House of Commons by Sir George Foster It is expected that as a result of the re ¬ port practically all the half mile tracks which generally have been credited with being offenders in the past will be wiped out by the legislation legislationThe The courses which are to be allowed to continue operations it is said will likely be Dorvaj mid Blue Bonnets Montreal Kenilworth and Windsor at Windsor Woodbine ami Thorncliffe at Toronto Counaught Park at Ottawa and the Hamilton track Fort Kries chance is not as good as the other first class courses coursesIn In regard to the racing held in connection with the western Canada fairs and those in eastern Quebec it is not expected that any action will be taken In most cases those tracks are simply used as an added attraction for the fairs ami there is little except harness racing racingCommissioner Commissioner Rutherford appeared to find that this had no harmful result in regard to several of the courses lie made no comment either way simply giving a summary of the evidence taken in regard to conditions at those plants plantsIn In dealing witli some of the more questionable courses however he rather censured the methods practiced by those having control of them and while he made no recommendations or finding on the lengthy report of over 250 typewritten pages it was Intimated Unit some of the courses in operation In 1917 might well be dispensed with
