DONNACONAS FAST LEXINGTON GALLOP BV EXILE EXILELEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky April 20 The most satisfac ¬ tory and impressive trial I ever witnessed over the Lexington course was that of the Kentucky Derby candidate Donnacona on Saturday On the day previous I had heard of the colts expected ar ¬ rival here so when the train pulled in on which he was a passenger 1 was on hand to meet him One quick glance at his glossy neck was convincing evidence that the colt had come on famously since last I saw him at I ouisville and right then I was informed by trainer llirsch that I might expect to see the colt gallop the following after ¬ noon Promptly at 3 p m Saturday Donnacona looking the picture of health was sent away for his cruise aiound the ellipse Sweeping along with regular stride having the Exterminator nod to his head his tail carried straight astern K Spence timing the colt flashed past the half in less than 47 fiveeighths in 59 threequarters in better than 1 13 and home in 140 running straight and true un urged by Robinson his rider his effort was con ¬ vincing Yes there have been faster trials at Lex ¬ ington but none more readily accomplished All horses hen are compellc1 to learn the hill which has ere this proved the pons assinorum of many and wliit with the big race yet two weeks away and a race in him Donnacona is as always my threestar Hennessey for the Derby Moreover it is my sincere wish and hope that he may prove successful for he is by odds the best bred colt in the race and on that account alone in after years of use as a sire Donnacona son of tho best horse I ever saw race Prince Palatine also much like him and growing daily more so in color and conformation is a son of Kildonan by Ladas Lochnell by the Matchem sire Jarcaldine and a member of the renowned Agnes family Can you beat it I trow not
