JOCKEY KOPPELMAN DIES AT SAN DIEGO Rider Penjamin Kopplcman died in a San Diego Cal hospital Friday May 7 the outcome of in ¬ juries received in a fall at Tijuana the previous Monday He hul ridden at Havana last winter and was riding for the stable of Dr H E Davis at the time of the accident He was a native of Russia His mother died soon after the family aimed in this country and becoming estranged from his father who is believed to be in the East the youth was left to shift for himself He first exercised horses for George Phillips about five years ago on the Canadian tracks He was an apt pupil on a race course and gave promise of being a rider of ability under the direction of Phillips His first winner was ICudweisor At an ¬ other time he rode J Herd and two years ago he entered Dr Davis employ exhibiting good form at Havana last winter While riding for Phil ¬ lips the boy was injured in a fall on an eastern track An operation on his skull was necessary to relieve a fracture and a silver plate was used
