NEW LOUISIANA BETTING LEGISLATIOl RATON ROUOE La June 17 The Johnson antiracing publication bill passed the Louisiana state senate today by a vote of to 3 The bill prohibits the circulation in the State of Louisiana of any publication ontainiiig entries form charts or advance information on races The bill is aimed at the alwlition of handbooks which long have created turmoil and unrest in New Orleans It has a clause however which provides for the publication of racing news if the sport is in New Orleans at tile time timeLouisianas Louisianas present assembly seems to have grown extraordinarily religious as the Rntler bill which prohibits betting on elections passed the senate today by a vote of 32 to 7 It makes it a felony to wager more than 5 on the outcome of any election Another antibettiig bill introduced into the legislature today for its first reading was the Higgins bill which characterizes as a public nui ¬ sance any house or place wiiere there is gambling of any kind There are several other antibetting bills to be introduced while bills providing for the establishment of boxing and racing commis ¬ sions are expected to come up next week
