IMPROVEMENTS AT EMPIRE CITY CITYPLANT PLANT IS READY FOR OPENING NEW YORK N Y July 7 Many improve ¬ ments are noted at the Empire City race course which will open its summer meeting Wednesday July 14 The public will find a greatly improved plant President James Ilntler having completed tlie work which was held up by labor troubles in 1910 The Jerome avenue entrance has been en ¬ larged big iron gates having replaced tlie old wooilen barriers and there is now room for nine automobiles to enter abreast Passengers arriving by Ynnkcrs avenue will find a new entrance to the grandstand at the upper end of the structure structureThe The grandstand clubhouse and other buildings liave all Inen repainted and a new Judges stand of modern type has replaced the old one which cut off the view of the racing patrons to a great ex ¬ tent The space in front of the clubhouse has been enlarged ami now extends beyond the jockeys quarters A new fence which extends well above the grandstand adds to the beauty of the course considerably There are also many new stables As usual tlie Empire City Handicap will feature the opening days program In this event all the best handicap horses on the metropolitan circuit are arenamed named Tlie other stakes are nil rous and bristle bristleWith With nominations of the beut Lowes
