BEST RACING OF MEETING : Patrons of Oriental Park Treated to Some Thrilling Sport. Finishes of the Hair-Raising Kind Delight Large Attendance-Track Fast Again. , HAVANA, Cuba, December 15. Some of tbe most seiisutiiinnl racing of the present meeting was witnessed at Oriental Park today. The finish in nearly every race- was so close that the public had to wait for word from the judges before they were tmre of the winners. Fine weather and the track In the best of condition it lias been since the opening of the meeting served to bring out a big crowd, of racing enthusiasts. The biggest disappointment of the afternoon was the defeat of the overwhelming choice Atta Boy II. in the fourth race. The Goldblatt colorbearer was only beaten a nose, and appeared to tire just when victory seemed assured. T. Hodges Short Grass .colt Cabin Crook scored bis second consecutive victory of the meeting when he defeated Kama anil Willow Tree in a hair-raising finish in the inaugural dasli of the afternoon. The proverbial blanket would have .covered tbe first four horses at the end, and the winner was in doubt until the official placing was announced;. Williams Bros. three-year-old filly Military Girl was an odds-ori choice, in the second race and she ontrl Twa,?lrer-KmeirtJrTrin!iing-tiJi-tIeaway by -a wide margin. Another thrilling finish came in the third race when Slippery Silver, Red and Kewessa finished in tbe order named with the smallest of margins separating tliem at the end. As- in the first race it required the official placing to determine the winner. Again in the fifth race tbe spectators were brought to their feet when W. Crump got The Blue Duke up just in time to snatch a nose victory from Black. Prince after the latter appeared the winner entering the stretch. The Belgian II. was third right on the heels of the first two. Jockey F. Weiner. who rode here last year, has just returned from New York and will ride for C. K. Moores stable during the remainder of the meeting. Weiner rode well on New York tracks and is rated as one of the topnotchers and is under contract to ride next year for the Greentree stable, owned by Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney. B. Brewster, who recently sold the two-year-old Blue Flame for J. 0. Keene, received a number of offers for Lui-Meme and several others of the Keene string, and may dispose of them shortly.
