FIREBRAND EXTERMINATOR LOUISVILLE Ky May 17 Three start ¬ ling bits of speed were witnessed at Churchill Downs this morning The bay colt Blue Nose a twoyearold son of Black Toney Benanet by St Avonicus from the stable of E R Bradley galloped threeeighths in the remarkably fast time of 34 while Fire ¬ brand for which Jefferson Livingston re ¬ cently paid 40000 astonished the rail birds by going a mile in 133 Two such work ¬ outs would have been sufficient for any morning at any track but that was not all The great cup horse and idol of the American turf the veteran Exterminator came forth and galloped a mile and an eighth in 1 52 in that smooth longstriding manner that has brought him fame and glory wherever he has raced
