SCOTTISH CHIEF raced prominently in the early running and was under slight restraint until well into the stretch, then gained steadily and, wearing THE PERUVIAN down in the final eighth, headed him in the last stride. THE PERUVIAN set a good pace and, saving ground on the turns, made a game finish. CONSORT raced under restraint until in the last quarter, but tired when called on for a final effort. LANIUS met with minor interference at the start and was saved behind the leaders under slight restraint to the stretch, then easily passed the leaders and won easing up. FRIGATE was a forward contender throughout and was forced wide when rounding the last turn, but steadily improved his position in the stretch and finished gamely. SLEIVECONARD improved his position gamely througli the stretch and outfinished SUMMIT in the final drive. SUMMIT showed the most speed for live-eighths and tired. FLANNEL SniRT took the lead in the first eighth and, racing into a long lead, was shaken up in the stretch to withstand PIRATE GOLDS challenge, but won in a canter. PIRATE GOLD, under restraint in the early running, moved up rapidly after entering the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth. SCOTLAND YET ran well, but interfered with PIRATE GOLD at the start, for w?.ich she was disqualified. GUNSIGHT and BROOMFLAX were always badly beaten. EQUINOCTIAL, off forwardly, followed PETER BROWN closely to the final eighth, where she raced into the lead, but tired in the final strides and just lasted to win. BLANC SEING was forced wide at the elbow and lost ground, but recovered quickly and, moving up steadily, was wearing EQUINOCTIAL down at the end. PETER BROWN set a fast pace to the elbow and tired. ALADDIN, on the inside throughout and in close quarters, met with repeated interference. WILDRAKE tired in the stretch. ROCK SALT ran well. Overweights Black Friday, 2 pounds; Brother Pat, 4. RECOUNT was outpaced in the early running, but gradually improved his position and easily outfinished COALER in the stretch drive. GOALER was under restraint for the first five-eighths and moved up menacingly on the last turn, tnen tired when well into the stretch, but outstayed THE ROLL CALL. The latter showed speed, but tired. RIGEL began slowly from the outer rail and quickly raced into a forward position, but was unable to overhaul the winner. MAJORITY raced forwardly throughout and out-finished SPREAD EAGLE in the final drive. The latter moved up gamely at the eighth post, but tired.
