THE NUT TO START IN THE PREAKNESS LEXINGTON Ky April 25 Gilbert Mas tin manager of the Dunreath Stud of Silas B Mason and Arnold Hanger who also maintain the Warm Stable announced to ¬ day that The Nut which they recently ac ¬ quired from H P Whitney would remain in Maryland to fill his engagement in the Preakness Should he come out of that en ¬ gagement in good condition he will be shipped to Kentucky for the Derby At the time trainer Joe Notter will come West and take over the division of their stable being handled by Tommy Taylor Jockey Johnny Maiben who is under contract to the estab ¬ lishment will accompany Notter NotterVictorian Victorian which the Warm Stable also re ¬ cently purchased from Mr Whitney will re ¬ main in the East under the training of James Rowe Mastin stated that Victorian would be a starter in the Dixie Handicap on Monday next During the absence of trainer Notter the western division of the stable will con ¬ tinue to be in charge of Taylor who has been successful in the training of the horses
