LATONIA UPSETS NUMEROUS First Three Races Fall to Extreme Outsiders in Wagering Cherry Time Wins Blue Grass Purse Fea ¬ ture Offering on OffDay Card Warm Weather LATONIA Ky June 8 This afternoons program of races at Latonia was given over to the lower class of thoroughbreds with the Blue Grass Purse passing for the feature event This race brought together a band of threeyearolds for a sprint of six furlongs while the secondary attraction was the Mill dale Purse a race of one mile and a six ¬ teenth for threeyearolds and over overA A large weekday crowd watched the sport but found it difficult to hit upon winners in the races The first three winners were outsiders the first public choice to reward his fourthThe backers being Poet Prince in the fourth The weather was warm in contrast to that of the last several days and the track was fast fastThe The Blue Grass Purse went to Cherry Time a threeyearold gelding by Flight of Time and Cherry Court owned by Mrs William Crump This gelding which was scoring his second victory of the meeting and his sixth of the year began in front and stayed lengthSecond there winning handily by a length Second to complete the six furlongs was Mose Goldblatts Gilbert Elston while Dar naby Thompsons Lady Pal was third Seven started startedAfter After the first threeeighths the first three horses had the race to themselves Cherry Time opened up a threelength lead on his rivals on the turn with Lady Pal second and Gilbert Elston third Lady Pa tired from chasing the winners fast pace and dropped back into third place with Gilbert Elston moving up The Goldblatt colorbearer was getting to Cherry Time near the finish though the victor still had plenty in reserve Angon reserveAngon Bridge raced forwardly for a time but could not get up and tired in the drive to the finish finishMrs Mrs R T Runnels Star Bud accounted for the Milldale Purse and like Cherry Time led every step of the way Roya Sport raced into second place and El Puma was third in the field of five fiveApprentice Apprentice Paul Clelland brother of the former jockey Otis was riding his first win ¬ ner and he made no mistakes He had his mount away in a hurry and guiding him cleverly maintained a lead of from a length and onehalf to three lengths all the way around winning finally by four lengths
